Why you usually cannot buy it

US ETFs do not publish the PRIIPs key information document that EU rules require for retail sales, so European brokers block the order. Professional or opted-up clients are the exception. The same applies to VOO.

The UCITS alternative, and how it differs

The main UCITS option is the iShares MSCI Global Semiconductors UCITS ETF. It is not a clone: about 260 companies worldwide instead of 30 US-listed ones, with ESG screens and weight caps. Expect similar direction, different results.
